It is with great enthusiasm that I announce the most recent project I have been collaborating on with CaseyWayneStudio.com.
This has been a first for me, outside of work place assignments, to get to join forces on an "art" project of such a large scale with a fellow artist. I'm not going to say this journey has been easy but it definitely has been fun. Casey Wayne is assistant director to the GCFAC fall production of Little Shop of Horrors. He brought the idea to me of helping create the Audrey 2 puppets for the production and I was immediately on board. Little Shop of Horrors is one of my favorite childhood movies so it was an easy decision. However, creating puppets that have to sing RNB, dance, interact with other actors and even eat them is a stretch from my traditional paintings on canvas...but I love a challenge. Anyone who has seen the broadway production or is familiar with the movie knows Audrey 2 starts out as a small rose bud sized pod and grows to an enormous monster that towers over her victims. The plant version shown in this post is referred to as "Pod1". This innocent looking plant has to wilt on cue and "grow" after eating a few drops of blood. There are 3 other puppet sizes after Pod 1 that continue to get bigger and more ominous looking after each meal. I hope everyone in our community comes out to support not only the performance arts and the very talented actors in this production but also the time and effort Casey and I put into making the Audrey 2 puppets.
The Greene County Fine Arts Council's production of Little Shop of Horrors will be at the Paragould Collins Theatre:
October 25th at 7:30PM
October 26th at 7:30PM
October 27th at 7:30PM
October 28th at 2:30PM
Pod 2 will be coming soon!
